Essential oils and aromatherapy have been used for centuries to calm the mind, balance the emotions, and reduce stress.  Yoga is another ancient practice that can offer the same benefits as well as improved physical wellbeing and mental clarity.  It is naturally intuitive then, to merge these two art forms into a more holistic, healing practice.  

In the Essential Chakra Flow Jen guides the participant on a journey up the chakra channel utilizing movment, breathwork, and visualization, meanwhile incorporating essential oils relevant to each chakra to enhance the overall experience.  These oils work on the emotional level by directly interacting with the Limbic System, helping to promote feelings of relaxation, peace of mind, and balance.  Likewise, some oils are invigorating and energizing.  The class offers the student an opportunity to experience a variety of oils and their benefits while connecting to their own energy systems and actively working to improve their state of mind.  It is a holistic practice desigend for students at any level.

Join me for a unique opportunity to sample a delicious variety of Thai Yoga Massage techniques that have been savored for centuries and lovingly passed down through the Nuad Bo Rarn (sacred massage) tradition of Northern Thailand. This spicy combination of supine, side-lying and sitting techniques will help you cultivate a taste and/or talent for Thai Yoga Massage. But be warned – you will walk away hungry for more.

 

What is Thai Yoga Massage? Thai Yoga massage is an ancient healing art with origins in Ayurvedic Medicine, Yoga and Buddhism. It has evolved into a unique and magical combination of deep stretching, rhythmic compression, soft-tissue manipulation, gentle rocking,  energy balancing, and acupressure. A traditional Thai Yoga massage session is conducted on a thick pad on the floor, and the client remains fully clothed. It is often referred to as “lazy man’s yoga” because it offers the same benefits as a yoga practice, but requires little or no effort from the clients.

 

Appropriate for all levels!  This course is for anyone who wants to come and play.  Advanced practitioners will learn techniques that they can easily integrate into their current massage practice, and beginners will walk away with skills that will make them very popular with friends and family who suffer from typical complaints like neck pain, back pain and sore feet. Everyone will walk away feeling more relaxed, embodied and inspired by the simplicity, portability and possibility of this work.

As a massage therapist and yoga teacher, one of the most common postural patterns I see is a weak, rounded spine, rounded shoulders, tight gluts, shortened hamstrings, and pinched neck.  This posture comes from hours of continuous sitting and the emotional implications include a closed off heart, feelings of isolation, tension, stress, and generally feeling separated from our environment.

 

I designed the Radiant Heart sequence as a way to counter act these unconscious patterns by awakening the back body and connecting with muscle groups many are not even aware of.  This is not just a class about back bends, it's teachings go much deeper by allowing us to connect with the energetic root of our body - the pelvic floor, enliven the spine through focused muscular awareness, and open the chest to allow the radiant light within each being to shine.  

 

In this three hour workshop class I will be presenting a guided meditation, the RadiantHeart sequence itself, and will have additional time for Q&A and discussion.  Undoubtedly, there is a well-spring of discovery to be had when we reverse the patterns of our closed off, individualized lives and begin to truly open to the world around us and share our own inner radiance by letting our heart shine.  It is my humble offering to encourage my students to begin the exploration and enjoy the journey of openness.
